Texas Longhorns Athletics - Women's Track and Field wins the Big 12 Outdoor title, men secondPublished by
LUBBOCK, Texas – The second-ranked Texas women, paced by eight event victories, including seven Sunday, cruised to the team title at the 2014 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships to complete the league season sweep. The Longhorn women won the Big 12 Indoor title in March, also by a wide margin. The 10th-ranked men were the runners-up for the second time this season at the league meet. "We had a great overall team effort from the staff to the athletes," head coach Mario Sategna said. "We had a lot of people step up over the weekend. I can't say enough about the leadership on this team." The women tallied 149 points to outdistance second-place Baylor which produced 113.50. Sixth-ranked Texas Tech, which played host to the three-day meet at Fuller Track and Field Complex, captured the men's crown with 160.50 points.
