After closing out the regular season on Saturday by winning both team titles at the Longhorn Invitational, the Track and Field team, ranked No. 2 nationally on the women's side and eighth on the men's, is off this weekend as it gears up for the Big 12 Conference Outdoor Championships, which will be held Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18. The Longhorns will send 32 athletes from the both the men's and women's squads to the meet, which will be held in Lubbock, Texas, on the campus of Texas Tech for the second time in league history (2009). Under first-year head coach Mario Sategna, the UT men look to defend their Big 12 title, while the women will try to claim the crown after finishing second last season. The UT women cruised to the 2014 Big 12 indoor title, while the men were second. Last season, Texas won four men's titles – shot put (Ryan Crouser), discus (Clint Harris), decathlon (Johannes Hock) and steeplechase (Trevor Van Ackeren) – and four women's crowns - high jump (Shanay Briscoe), pole vault (Kaitlin Petrillose), 100-meter hurdles (Morgan Snow) and 1,500 meters (Sara Sutherland).
